At the international school where I work, every Wednesday is Donut Wednesday for the teachers who work there. There is a French Bakery near the school that has donuts and other baked goods. To say that some teachers are obsessed with Donut Wednesday, would be an understatement. Of course at the end of our week it is good to have a fun diversion. Here is a link to the donut song they created to commemorate Donut Wednesday. The guy on the left is Winter’s science teacher and vice principal. The guy in the blue North Georgia shirt is the other math teacher at the school. The other actor that appears later is Winter’s history teacher and basketball coach.
On a serious note, I am enjoying my classes at ISK and getting to know the personalities of my students. The students are very similar to what I taught in America exceptthat for many students English is their second language. We have talked about what a matinee is and defined the word trim (as in trimming expenses). I also have to be careful not to use America phrases that would make not sense to them. Overall, I am thankful for small class sizes, great back up on discipline and the chance to connect with Afghan teenagers.
Love it! It takes so little to make us enjoy so much.
Oh, my….I’m going to have that tune in my head all day while I’m trying to study world geography. What a blessing to have colleagues with a sense of humor, and to have a system of discipline is a HUGE bonus. I may be looking for a job there in a few years! 🙂 Eat a donut for me…I like bavarian cream donuts with chocolate icing! 🙂
Blessings
Cathy
