Wednesday Winter and David’s school had a special assembly. Sonia Cole and Natalie Cole came for a visit. Most of you recognize the name Natalie Cole and are familar with her songs (Unforgetable) so she needs no introduction. Sonia Cole, on the other hand, you probably haven’t heard of. She is an Afghan woman who came to the United States when she was 16 and now makes movies. Her movie Black Tulip will come out soon. They are on tour in Afghanistan and our school was one of their stops. Here are two links that tell a little bit about them and their visit. The first is a video by a gal in the military who accompanied the ladies to our school. It focuses on Natalie Cole. The second is an article in the NY times about Sonia Cole and her movie. At the assembly, Sonia’s heart for Afghanistan came out in her answers to the children’s questions. She is in incredible woman.

Wow! I am so jealous! I have several CDs of the late Nat King Cole and of Natalie Cole and play them with great regularity. That is so cool!
