We were on the road from November 20th to December 30th. During that time our car went through the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington, DC, Indiana, Iowa and Kansas. Our car hit the 200,000 mile mark and only broke down once. Here are a few of the highlights.
Our first stop was in Illinois where we spent the weekend with Teresa’s sister and her family. While they were there, we saw Seth play basketball. Here are the rest cheering him on.
Next stop was Florida where we spent Thanksgiving with Noel’s family.
On that Friday, we gathered with Aunts, Uncles and Cousins that we had not seen in 5 years. We gathered around a bonfire enjoying smores, soup, and other goodies.
Our third stop was in Tennessee where we spent a week with Nana and Papaw. One night Nana and Papaw took us to see the Rockettes.
Since Winter and David are studying American History, our next stop was Washington, DC. Besides seeing many museums, we were able to take a tour of the White House.
Our last major destination was Iowa to spend Christmas with mom. Our time there was full of Christmas shopping, decorating the tree, making gingerbread houses, and playing games.
On Christmas eve, we enjoyed lighting the Christ candle at the Christmas eve service.
After Christmas, my sister and her family joined us so we could celebrate together. This was our first time together since before we left for Afghanistan. Our last night in Iowa, we were able to share about our life in Afghanistan with my home church.
We enjoyed our time away but it is good to be settled back into one place. This last month is full of finishing Noel’s training and for the kids and I just keeping up with school.
Blessings, Teresa
