I thought you might enjoy seeing our friend Susanna Medley posing with her new scarf. Now she is already to come visit. Many of the girls her age do wear a scarf at least on the streets even though it is not required until about age 12 or so.
Every morning I see a sea of little girls in black pants and jackets with a white scarf on their heads as they head to school. The children here go to school for only 3 hours a day. Most schools have 3 shifts with the first shift sometimes starting as early as 6:00 in the morning. The girls and boys often attend at different times but when they are younger the classes are sometimes mixed. The three shifts are due to a lack of space and teachers. So many people here want a good education for their children but have limited options. Education is often something I have often taken for granted. I don’t anymore.
Blessings. Teresa
Susanna loves her new scarf! Thanks for the contest and wonderful prize!
We need to be reminded how wonderful a good education is, too–especially with summer so near and with all of us being so weary of the good school we have!
Thanks for the reminder!
Love you guys!
I just read some of your entries in the journal. I really enjoy them and your pictures are wonderful. Noel, was that water cold and did it feel good? Congratulations on your accomplishment! Hugs and kisses to all.
